Dental Implant Q&A

What are the benefits of dental implants?

Dental implants are a long-lasting solution that can be cared for just like natural teeth. Because they replace teeth at the root, dental implants preserve the jaw bone. Dental crowns that cap off implants also enhance the health of surrounding natural teeth. Patients who receive dental implants are able to bite, chew, and speak again.

How long is dental implant treatment?

When we insert the titanium implant post into the jaw bone, it typically requires a healing period of 3 to 6 months for the post to fuse with the bone tissue. Because of this, implant treatment typically takes multiple months. Implant treatment may be longer if you require tooth extractions or gum disease treatment before your implants are placed. Once treatment is complete, your dental implants will be secure in the mouth and function like healthy natural teeth.

How do I care for dental implants?

Care for your dental implants just like your natural teeth. Brush and floss your teeth at home and visit our office for routine care and examinations. If you keep up a regular oral hygiene routine, your dental implants should last for many years.

How many dental implants do I need?

Dr. Izadi or Dr. Rafat will examine your teeth and gums before treatment to determine the number of implants that you require. We can provide single dental implants or implant-secured bridges and dentures that are made up of multiple implants. The location of the gaps in your smile, as well as the number of missing teeth, determine if you require single implants, dentures, or dental bridges. Four to eight implants can secure a single arch of prosthetic teeth.
